Atal Innovation Mission 2.0

On November 25, 2024, the Union Cabinet, led by the Prime Minister, approved Atal Innovation Mission 2.0 (AIM 2.0) under NITI Aayog with a budget of ₹2,750 crore till March 31, 2028.

AIM 2.0 aims to strengthen India’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem by:

Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs)

ATLs are innovation labs set up in schools (Grades 6-12) to nurture creativity and problem-solving skills. These labs provide 21st-century tools like IoT, 3D printing, robotics, and DIY kits to students.

So far, 10,000 ATLs have been established across 700+ districts in all Indian states and UTs. AIM and NITI Aayog are offering a ₹20-lakh ATL grant to 10,000 schools in 2025. Schools must meet the eligibility criteria for ATL. Click here to read a simpler version of the eligibility criteria for ATL.
